What is stone paper?

The stone paper was made from calcium carbonate bonded with high-density polyethylene(HDPE)


What is the feature of stone paper?

The stone paper does not use wood pulp at all, and the production process does not use a drop of water, does not discharge waste water, waste gas, waste residue

Paper is Eco-friendly, waterproof, moisture-proof, anti-bacteria , resistance to tear, recyclable


What is the print method of stone paper?

Suitable Printing Methods : Web/Sheet Offset Lithographic,  UV Web/Sheet Offset Lithographic , rotary, relief, letterpress ,Flexographic , Gravure , Digital (Latex/solid ink) and screen printing techniques .

*Not suitable for copying machine paper, laser printer, and toner printers

Who are we?

we are the stone paper factory in China, have 25 production lines, the capacity is 120,000.00 per year, we can produce the paper from 30um to 800um, product in rolls or in sheet, customized size is available . Our product get the Certification: REACH, ROHS, FDA, SGS, ISO9001, MSDS, quality can be rest assured  


Is Stone paper alternative biodegradable?

Our paper alternative contains high percentage of calcium carbonate which is an inorganic mineral and do not biodegrade. When exposed to long duration of heat such as in a landfill environment, it will hardened and degraded into very small fragments. In a landfill, the high level presence of acidity will attack and dissolve the calcium carbonate.


How should I dispose of Stone paper alternative?

The Stone paper can be recovered, though the facilities for doing so do not currently exist. The economics of the recovery process, as well as the potential environmental impact, may make the transport of waste Stone paper over long distances impractical. Since local recovery is not currently available, Stone paper should be disposed of by incineration for energy recovery. If suitable incineration facilities are unavailable, it is safe to dispose in landfill without risk of adverse environmental effects.

In the absence of wood fiber and effort to reduce contaminating conventional paper recovery, Stone paper alternative should not be mixed with other waste paper.

The best current available disposal method is incineration as it does not release any harmful or toxic gases and is a fuel source for energy. It is also safe for landfilling since it contains no harmful metals and it does not emit methane gases like pulp paper.


Can I write on Stone with pen or pencil?

Yes, the extra smooth surface provides a very nice surface to write, draw, and paint. Additionally, the waterproof and high tear strength features, can safeguard record keeping and artwork.

People doubt why stone paper is Eco-friendly, here , i share my own points: 

First: the stone paper self----the stone paper is made from calcium carbonate bonded with high-density polyethylene(HDPE), The only constituents of stone paper are calcium carbonate and environmental-friendly HD polyethylene. The HDPE is produced by the polymerization of ethene – a gas which is released from various types of fruit. we got FDA certification and customers also used the paper as wrapping paper for food or package of food Second: the production process, the production process does not use wood pulp at all, and the production process does not use a drop of water, does not discharge waste water, waste gas, waste residue. No bleaching agents, alkalis or other chemicals are used in the production process. Degradable: Most people promoted as the stone paper is bio-degradable, but in strictly it is photo-degradable, under air and sunlight, After about a year it will be dissolved in dust completely – similar to eggshells. Stone paper can also be burnt without creating toxic gases.

Stone Paper is a paper-like plastic product that is designed to be waterproof, durable, foldable, able to be bound, and recyclable with HDPE plastic (#2).

Gaiakraft exist of 80% Calcium Carbonate and 20% Recycled PE.

The calcuim carbonate is not expensive and HDPE is very less, also not expensive, why stone paper is expensive than traditional pulp paper?

Our answer: Firstly, Never compare the stone paper with traditional pulp paper, as the stone paper is Eco-friendly, Our purpose is not to replace pulp paper, instead, it is to advance a new system of thinking to reduce the reliance on the world's forests and water, because the production process doesn't use wood pulp at all, does not use a drop of water, does not discharge waste water, waste gas, waste residue

Secondly: All the raw materials which we used is virgin, not the recycle ones

Thirdly: The production process, we use the advantage blow molding process, which have patent in the world

with the awareness of environmental protection, more and more stone and paper products have been coming into people's lives~~

the stone paper is recyclable, and Cradle to Cradle certified. The Cradle to Cradle principle does not exhibit waste. because Stone paper consists of the components only: Calcium carbonate and high density polyethylene. If it is no longer needed, there are various disposal options. Stone paper begins to dissolve under constant sunlight after a few months. After about a year it will be dissolved in dust completely – similar to eggshells. Stone paper can also be burnt without creating toxic gases.

because it made from calcium carbonate bonded with high-density polyethylene(HDPE), thus disposed and recycled in the normal way, is turned back into calcium carbonate and becomes limestone again

When promotion, people says the stone paper is biodegradable, but strictly speaking, the stone paper is photo-degradable, under sunlight and air, it will be degrade within in 6~8 monthes.

The main difference between stone paper and synthetic paper:

1. ingredient: For PP synthetic paper, most part is PP, but the stone paper is Calcium carbonate bonded with high-density polyethylene(HDPE), 80% is Calcium carbonate, and especially the HDPE is food grade( get the FDA certificate), so the stone paper is Eco-friendly

2. The density: For stone paper, RP ( Rich mineral paper)  the density is around 1.2g/cm3, and for RB ( Rich mineral paperboard) it is around 1.5G/CM3

3. Stiffness and toughness:  at the same thickness, The stone paper is softer than PP synthetic paper, but with good toughness

2. synthetic paper: such as: labels, disposal bags, blister products, wrapping food, wrapping flower, cement bags, etc...
